About IHDA Legal

Thank you for visiting the IHDA Legal internet page. IHDA Legal has a wide range of duties and responsibilities, providing legal support for every aspect of IHDA’s operations, typically employing 27-29 full-time professionals. Legal is led by IHDA’s General Counsel, who reports directly to IHDA’s Executive Director. There are five teams within IHDA Legal. The role of each team is described in more detail below. Real Estate Transactions Team

Roughly half of the professionals in Legal have day-to-day job duties that center around providing legal services focused on multifamily real estate/affordable housing finance to IHDA’s Multifamily Finance Department, Asset Management Department, and structured finance professionals.  With a typical mix of seven lawyers, seven paralegals and one paralegal assistant. This arm of Legal is overseen by IHDA’s Deputy General Counsel, with day-day-day operations being managed by the Assistant General Counsel – Multifamily Finance and Asset Management and the Managing Paralegal.

Community Programs Team

There are two professionals in Legal who have day-to-day job duties that center around providing grant issuance and grant management legal services to IHDA’s Community Affairs Department, Strategic Response Department and SPAR Department. With a typical mix of one lawyer and one paralegal. This arm of Legal is overseen by IHDA’s Deputy General Counsel, with day-to-day operations being managed by the Associate Counsel – Community Programs.

Homeownership Programs Team

There is one professional in Legal that has day-to-day job duties that center around providing legal services to IHDA’s Homeownership Department. This arm of Legal is overseen by IHDA’s Deputy General Counsel, with day-to-day operations managed by the Associate Counsel – Community Programs.

Procurement Team

There are four professionals in Legal that have day-to-day job duties that center around supporting IHDA’s purchase of goods and services. This arm of Legal is overseen by IHDA’s General Counsel, with day-to-day operations being managed by the Assistant Director, Procurement and Supplier Management.

General Corporate & Compliance Matters

The balance of the professionals in Legal have day-to-day job duties covering a wide array of subject matter areas including but not limited to FOIA, ethics, corporate governance, litigation, audit, open meetings act compliance, employee relations, contracts, legislative matters etc. This arm of Legal is overseen by IHDA’s General Counsel, with day-to-day operations being managed by the Deputy General Counsel.
